Unfortunately you're looking to make games...in VB nonetheless. Maybe you cna make RPG's or even card games, but to make true graphic-engine dependant games, VB isn't really the way to go.

It;s a known fact the VB is one of the best RAD (rapid application development) tools ever made but the problem we face is that even with the advancement from Pseudo code to Native code compilations, VB still uses a library incorporation and dependancy which prevents it from executing as fast and as clean as C, C++ and C#.

There are plenty of good books for VB out there and to know them all is rediculous. WROX publications always has great books and I would start looking at them. Any book that claims to teach you VB in a short amount of time is only taking your money even faster. The long, BIG books which offer alot of nonsense is probably the best cause they offer tons of references which will be useful later.

If you truly want to be a game programmer, I would certainly be stupid not to urge you to try and learn C or C++ or even C#. Even look into game engines since there are a ton of open source ones out there.
